What it is
Cerebrolysin is a complex of low-molecular-weight peptides and amino acids extracted from purified pig brain tissue. Approved as a stroke and dementia treatment in 50+ countries (Austria, Russia, China, Mexico, etc.) but not the United States. Used clinically for stroke recovery, traumatic brain injury, vascular dementia, and Alzheimer's disease.
How it works
Mimics the action of natural neurotrophic factors (BDNF, NGF, GDNF). Promotes neuron survival, neurogenesis, synaptic plasticity, and protection against excitotoxic damage. The exact composition is proprietary but contains short peptides under 10 kDa.
